Moscow accuses Washington of “intimidation” in the Western Hemisphere and warns that Western containment policies threaten global peace

Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Evgueni Ivánov has accused the United States of exerting strong pressure on Cuba and intimidating Nicaragua and other countries in the Western Hemisphere, framing these actions as part of a renewed, neocolonial Monroe Doctrine.

Ivanov stated that “United States, in the spirit of a renewed Monroe Doctrine of a neocolonial nature, exerts strong pressure on Cuba, intimidates Nicaragua and other countries in the Western Hemisphere.”

He added that Washington also targets governments that “dare to have their own vision of the development model and choose their partners.”

In his remarks on broader international conflicts, the Russian official described actions by the United States and Israel against Lebanon and Iran as a “use of unjustified force against the civilian population.”

Text Reads: Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Ivanov denounced the United States for intimidating Nicaragua and other Latin American countries, as well as exerting intense pressure on Cuba, the diplomat stated. 🔴 Ivanov described the actions of the United States and Israel against Lebanon and Iran as an unjustified use of force. He emphasized that the West’s policy of containing Russia and China poses a threat to global peace.

Ivanov also argued that current Western foreign policy poses a systemic risk to global stability. He said that “the main threat to international peace and security, in our view, is the policy of the West aimed at containing Russia, China and other centers of the emerging multipolar world.”

He warned that efforts to contain Russia, China, and other emerging global powers represent the most serious challenge to international peace and security, in the context of what he described as an emerging multipolar world order.

The statements reflect continued geopolitical tensions between Moscow and Washington, particularly over influence in Latin America and competing visions of the global order.
